At the beginning of the film, Scarlett is dressed in an elegant black evening dress and high heels. She has chosen her most attractive outfit for what she hopes will be a wonderful night. She is waiting for James, a man she recently met through an online dating app.
James has sent her a photo of himself wearing a naval officer's uniform, appearing to be a handsome and distinguished man in his mid-thirties. Scarlett is both excited and nervous, repeatedly checking her phone and glancing at her watch.
Finally, someone knocks on the door.
Scarlett opens it and meets James in person for the first time.
The problem is that James looks nothing like the impressive officer from the photos. He appears much more ordinary, somewhat rough around the edges, and far from the charming image she had been expecting. Scarlett immediately points out that he is not the same man from the picture. James casually insists that he is the same person, claiming he simply shaved and looks different now.
He says he's ready for their evening together.
Scarlett, however, has completely changed her mind. She firmly tells him that she no longer wants to go out and that he should leave.
James responds with unsettling calmness. If she doesn't want to go out, he suggests they can simply stay home, watch television, and get to know each other better.
Then he suddenly covers her mouth with his hand.
Scarlett immediately realizes she is in serious trouble.
In the next scene, Scarlett is bound with rope, her wrists crossed in front of her and her ankles secured. A cleave gag silences her protests.
A mixture of anger and concern begins to show on her face. James is clearly not who he claimed to be. Whether he is a burglar, a stalker, or simply unstable, Scarlett knows she wants him out of her life.
For the moment, however, James behaves as if everything is perfectly normal. He insists that they could still spend the evening watching a movie together.
After leaving her alone for a few minutes, Scarlett slips off her high heels and hops around the room looking for something that might help her escape. She can't find any scissors, but she manages to locate a screwdriver and desperately tries to work at the knots binding her wrists.
James returns and calmly scolds her for trying.
Later, James is relaxing in front of the television while Scarlett sits awkwardly on his lap, her bare feet stretched out in front of her.
James becomes increasingly clingy and annoying. Definitely the worst date imaginable.
He also begins asking questions about money and valuables in the house, making Scarlett suspect that he intends to leave with more than just memories of their evening together.
Scarlett insults him repeatedly.
James responds by sealing her mouth with black tape.
Once again he leaves her alone.
Determined not to give up, Scarlett continues searching for ways to loosen her restraints. This time she attempts to use the heel from one of her shoes, but without much success.
Then she notices something much more promising.
The scissors James used earlier have been left on a nearby shelf.
Carefully hopping across the room, she manages to reach them. Returning to the couch, she begins trying to cut the ropes around her ankles.
Just then, James comes back.
Scarlett quickly hides the scissors beneath a cushion.
Unfortunately, she doesn't hide them well enough.
James notices immediately.
Now convinced that Scarlett is far more resourceful than he expected, he decides she needs much tighter restraints.
In the next scene, Scarlett is secured to a chair with her hands behind her back and multiple ropes wrapped around her torso, legs, and ankles.
She is furious. Escape now seems almost impossible.
James removes the tape gag, only to receive another stream of insults.
Amused, he responds by stuffing her mouth and securing a snug OTM gag over it.
Scarlett grows increasingly frustrated. At this point she almost wishes he would simply take whatever he wants and leave.
Unfortunately, James seems far more interested in her than in her possessions.
After several more minutes of fruitless struggling, James finally returns and announces that it is time for bed.
The next scene takes place in the bedroom.
At first Scarlett appears to be comfortably tucked beneath the blankets, with only her head visible.
James approaches her like the most attentive boyfriend imaginable and asks whether she rested well.
Scarlett replies that it is impossible to rest comfortably in her current situation.
James pulls back the blankets, revealing that she is tightly bound beneath them.
He tells her that he is sorry to leave after such a wonderful day together, but he has another date scheduled.
Then he seals her mouth with white self-adhesive tape and places her into a tight hogtie.
Before leaving, he casually helps himself to some cash.
Adding insult to injury.
Scarlett struggles furiously and protests through her gag, but there is nothing she can do.
Her nightmare date is finally over.
The problem is that she is still tied up.
The hogtie is tight, the knots are secure, and escaping will not be easy.
One thing is certain:
This will be the last time Scarlett looks for a date on the internet.
